To the editor: The Diagnosis and Treatment section of your August 1985 issue contained an article by Marzuk (1) on biofeedback for gastrointestinal disorders. I feel compelled to say that this article is almost totally incorrect, because I have been using biofeedback techniques and training on over 600 patients for over 10 years, and I have found that biofeedback has dramatic results in reflux esophagitis, peptic ulcer disease, and irritable bowel syndrome.
His review of the literature probably picked up only literature from medical centers, most of which do not deal to any extent with biofeedback in the treatment of
