In 1982, clinical oncologists needed an integrated, interdisciplinary textbook. DeVita and colleagues filled that need with an impressive first edition that rapidly became the standard reference. Their second edition addresses the need to stay current in this rapidly evolving discipline. Despite the price, most oncologists will probably find it a necessity to buy this edition and as many others as DeVita's group can provide.
With added, revised, and expanded chapters, one third of this edition appears new and provides fresh information on exciting developments in molecular and cell biology related to the roles of oncogenes, chromosomal abberations, and growth factors
