There have been a number of books on virology, but none are as complete and comprehensive as this one. Some deal with one particular virus or a group of viruses, covering either basic or clinical aspects, or both; others deal with clinical aspects only; and still others cover laboratory features only. Field's Virology represents the grand total of them all.
