A clinical pharmacology book that aims "to discuss the use and effects of drugs within a disease orientated context and so assist clinicians in an understanding of drug response in disease states and in selection of the most appropriate drug and dosage for a particular patient" is certainly an ambitious undertaking. This effort by 60 contributors with various backgrounds is generally successful in achieving that aim.
The first section presents the principles of clinical pharmacology and pharmacokinetics. In the first chapter is an excellent discussion of drug study evaluations, and if all the points indicated in Table XXIII (principles of
