Drs. Cline and Haskell have described difficult subject material in an ever-changing area of therapeutics. The task itself is formidable, to say the least, but has nevertheless been achieved admirably. My overall impression is that the book is superior to the two earlier editions.
The first three chapters describe essential details of tumor biology and its importance to the wide array of chemotherapeutic agents available to the modern practioner. Description of sites of action, rationale for combination chemotherapy, basic pharmacology and toxicity are done well, although complete information on these items is beyond the scope of the writers' intent.
