There are quite a number of reasonably priced and well-written monographs on various aspects of immunology. They provide correct, comprehensive, and contemporary coverage of immunology by authors knowledgeable in their fields, and would not occupy much more space on one's shelf than the Compendium of Immunology. This monograph should be avoided by those who need to update their immunologic knowledge and especially by those who are learning immunology for the first time. Immunologists will find this "compendium" annoying. The problems are numerous; the presentation of nearly every topic is marred by errors that are serious and in some instances change
