Since it had been suggested that insulin inhalation might be used to avoid injections, Palm made a thorough study of various spray methods of administering insulin, and came to the conclusion that there was no chance of its becoming a practical method. In the watery solution necessary for use as a spray insulin was largely or wholly destroyed, so that excessive quantities would have to be used in order to obtain an effective dose. The method is, therefore, costly and wasteful.
