This monograph is the result of considerable intradural experience combined with animal experimentation and postmortem studies . Realizing that surgical as well as pathological and diagnostic information may be obtained from postmortems the author invariably made a personal effort to obtain an autopsy on all cerebral cases coming under his observation, and was fortunate in missing this in very few of the fatal cases previously examined or operated upon.
