The authors have attempted to write a book on disease in children dealing with the subject primarily from the clinical standpoint, including such important recent additions to scientific knowledge as, in their view, have a bearing on the clinical study of disease in childhood. They have aimed at presenting the ailments of the young in the form and manner in which they are met in everyday practice, and to formulate principles for solving the problems of disease rather than merely to collect and record the work of others.
