In this volume the author attempts a survey of the literature which has appeared upon this subject, and combines with it the results of his own personal experience in spinal anesthesia. In spite of the large amount of research and the numerous articles upon spinal anesthesia that have appeared during the last twenty-five years, there has been very little effort made to put the present knowledge of the subject into concise form available to the medical profession. There are excellent summaries on spinal anesthesia which are lost to the profession because the literature containing the material is found scattered throughout
