The plan of this book is to present the fundamentals of genetics, the science of heredity in the earlier chapters, in order that the biological foundation may be laid for the sociologic application to be made in the succeding chapters. The importance of the biologic basis for eugenics and for the understanding of sociology, of social work, of educational systems, of disease, delinquency, degeneracy, crime, pauperism and mental defectiveness is being more and more appreciated.
