That a seventh edition of this work should have been called for within two years of the publication of the sixth speaks sufficiently strongly for its popularity. At the time of the publication of the sixth edition it was thought that a new impression once in every three years would be sufficient to take care of all future needs, but the continued indulgent reception of the work, together with the accumulation of a large amount of new and valuable material has rendered this plan impracticable.
