The experience obtained in organizing and establishing the Wellcome Museum of Medical Science forms the basis upon which this volume has been developed. This experience has demonstrated the practicability and value of such a Museum, which treats of medicine as a whole, and is now regarded as a necessary adjunct to any well-equipped school of medicine. In it are stored, in a condition of preservation more or less effective for teaching purposes, specimens which offer unique material for education and research.
