The methods of treatment described in this book have been adequately experienced by the author in his private and dispensary work of the past fifteen years; and are the methods employed by him at the present time, as they appear to be the most advantageous. In the majority of instances, however, alternative methods are described in order to meet the exigencies of practice in communities where some drugs and some physiotherapeutic facilities are not likely to be immediately available.
