The present monograph is based upon a series of lectures given at Rush Medical College during the last several years. It represents an attempt to discuss the problems of cardiovascular-renal disease and hypertension in such a manner that the logic of physiologic mechanism may be used at the bedside. The menace of arterial disease with hypertension and the subsequent threat of cardiac failure is apparently increasing; at least, the clinical occurrence of such cases has increased, and in clinical practical work the frequency and importance of arterial disease are constantly being emphasized.
