Litigation based upon the circumstances attending carbon monoxide, and particularly 'garage', deaths is constantly increasing. Physicians should exercise great care in certifying to the cause of death in such cases. The question which usually arises is as to whether death was accidental or suicidal. Since investigation of possible motives, of the behavior of the deceased in the last few hours or days of his life and of all of the minute details of the surroundings amid which the body was found may be necessary for reaching a decision, it is evident that the physician who answers an emergency call and
