This report gives the technical methods employed and the results obtained during the several years that the St. Bartholomew's Cancer Research Committee (formerly the Radiotherapeutic Research Committee) has been actively engaged in the treatment of malignant disease by irradiation. Two main types of therapeutic technic were developed: (1) intensive single-dose technic in which the entire dosage is applied in one, or at the most in two or three days; and (2) intensive split-dose technic in which the dose is applied in several fractions at intervals of approximately 24 hours over a period of several days.
