Although outside of the field of practice of most of the readers of the ANNALS, it is appropriate to give brief mention to this book. There is perhaps no other anatomical area for specialization in which community of knowledge is more essential on the part of the internist and surgeon than the thorax. Since this book presents the recent advances in this field and discusses the application of surgical methods to a considerable number of diseases usually first seen by the internist, this treatise must be of interest and value to that group.
