In the introduction the author states that this monograph is to deal with the variations of the cardiac output under different physiological and pathological conditions and the relation of these variations to other changes occurring in the circulatory system. In Part I he briefly outlines the methods that have been developed for determining success or failure in these methods and finally gives a comparison of the results obtained by various experimenters using them.
