The second and enlarged edition of this book testifies to its usefulness. It is an outline of preventive medicine summarizing those opportunities which present themselves in daily practice for the institution of preventive measures. An orienting chapter on the incidence of disease presents briefly and clearly the nature of the problem of preventing disability and avoidable deaths. The prevention of specific diseases or complications of diseases in the fields of general medicine, surgery, obstetrics, pediatrics, and other specialties is dealt with in separate chapters.
