The first nine volumes of this monumental work have been issued and it is expected that the last three will be forthcoming within the next few months. The editors have arranged under the alphabetic system articles dealing with the fields of general medicine, surgery, gynecology and obstetrics, and the chief specialties. These subjects have been interpreted in a broad sense so as to include the underlying sciences on which our clinical knowledge is based.
