The author's wide experience and uncommonly sane clinical judgment have enabled him to produce a very valuable volume on tuberculosis in the child and in the adult. The modern concepts of the development of primary tuberculosis and of its later course have been fully presented. The subject of the relationships between allergy and resistance in tuberculosis is interestingly discussed. The author feels that allergy plays a large rôle in combating the infection. The visceral reflexes involved in the symptomatology of pulmonary disease receive full attention. Dr. Pottenger has long had a special interest in this subject. He is also among
