In an editorial in the March 1938 number of the ANNALS we pointed out the relatively unsatisfactory results obtained by the usual methods of treating pellagra and discussed the striking improvement noted in the earliest reports regarding the administration of nicotinic acid to patients with this disease. During the year and more that has since elapsed, a large number of patients with pellagra have been treated with nicotinic acid by many different observers, and in general the successful results reported in the early experiments have been amply confirmed.
