The treatment of heart failure is too broad a subject to be comprehensively discussed in every detail in the brief space of one paper. It is manifestly necessary to touch upon much of the material in outline form and simply to state briefly the present status of the traditional forms of therapy. Newer methods and drugs that seem to be particularly interesting and promising will be more extensively commented upon. Personal observations or confirmations of the observations of others that seem particularly significant will be set forth. A report of some original or corroborative studies must be included in order
