Three years ago we1 reported the favorable effect of weight reduction upon the hyperglycemia of obese middle-aged persons. We are now in a position to deal with a still larger material. The effect of reduction of weight upon the delayed utilization of glucose displayed by 62 obese adult men and women forms the substance of this paper. A number of the patients had been referred to the Diabetic Clinic by their physicians because diet and insulin had failed to abolish the glycosuria.
