Hyperthyroidism is a disease which may occur during childhood and adolescence. Pemberton and Black1 have reported 189 children of 14 years and under who were observed at the Mayo Clinic while suffering from this disease. Over 80 per cent of their patients were between the ages of 10 and 14 years, and they found the disease to be rare before the age of nine years. A perusal of the literature reveals a sufficient number of articles on the subject to justify a brief discussion of the salient points of the disease in childhood and adolescence before presentation of the two
