This is a most timely and complete monograph on the commonest of surgical diseases. It is particularly timely because of all of the recent work reported concerning the use of the ever growing list of antibiotics in the treatment of appendicitis and peritonitis. The author does not discredit the judicious use of these agents in lowering the mortality of the complications of acute appendicitis. However, with mature surgical advice, he strongly emphasizes that these agents in no way substitute for early surgery.
The book includes ample review of the more recent literature with an abundance of statistics on all phases
