This book on medical therapeutics of cardiac diseases attempts to familiarize the clinician with the numerous advances in the pharmacology of drugs acting upon the myocardium. The variations of pharmacological actions of a very large number of cardiac glycosides are emphasized and discussed in great detail. Many of the recommendations are sound and of practical importance. However, other recommendations seem to have a more insecure basis. For instance, it is difficult to evaluate on what basis desoxycorticosterone and acetylcholine should be found advantageous if given in conjunction with cardiac glycosides.
