The author states that ". . . the purpose of this book is to give a comprehensive but concise summary of the progress of electrocardiography since 1933. . . ." Only the form of the electrocardiogram in the regularly beating heart is discussed in the present volume since a second volume to appear at a later date will include disturbances of cardiac rhythm. Included is a summary of the complete electrocardiographic literature. There is an excellent bibliography of approximately 9,000 references and an extensive system of cross-references.
