The President's Convocational Address offers an opportunity to one who has been honored by this office to express his conception of the significance of the past history of the College and to formulate his opinions as to the problems that must be met in the future.
The chief purpose of the College has been and is to improve constantly the practice of internal medicine. It has exerted a powerful influence in bringing about such improvements as have already occurred.
This influence of the College has been exerted in two ways. By far the most important of these, in my opinion,
