This paper includes a review of the literature regarding necrotizing renal papillitis and a report of three interesting cases. Our principal purpose in presenting this subject is to emphasize its possible existence as a specific entity, and also to stimulate an interest in and create an awareness of its presence. It has been our experience that many physicians are either not cognizant of the disease or at least do not differentiate it from acute pyelonephritis.
