The student of medicine today more than ever is startled all too frequently by drastic changes that take place in the sum of medical knowledge.
In the writing of any textbook, brevity and usefulness are difficult to achieve. In the writing of a textbook of Pathology, the task is herculean, if not impossible. Choosing exhausted—or neglected—concepts for deletion and new promising ideas from the glutted medical press requires judgment and foresight that few possess.
