This book is the first in a series of 34 volumes on the history of the United States Army Medical Service in World War II. It has been published under the direction of the Surgeon General, Department of the Army. It is an excellent compilation of data obtained from battlefield experiences gathered by the Board for the Study of the Severely Wounded in the North African-Mediterranean Theater of Operations, World War II.
