The author presents a new classification and nomenclature. The proposed change in nomenclature by the author represents such a departure from the usual that it is to be feared that most readers will have difficulty in making the transformation even if they desire to do so. The average student of this disease will have difficulty in correlating and integrating the various lesions, according to the six progressive phases of the toxic thyroid gland. These six pathological types are presented by the author as a basis for further research and discussion.
