An autopsied case of coarctation of the aorta complicated by ischemic necrosis of the legs prompted a review of the pertinent literature. No similar cases were recorded, and it was thought worth while to report the case with comment on the pathogenesis of the associated lesions. No detailed discussion of the signs and symptoms, pathologic findings or altered physiology in coarctation will be attempted except as pertinent to this particular case. Similar cases may be seen and diagnosed in the future if the possibility of a coexistent coarctation of the aorta is considered in cases of ischemic necrosis of
