This well known textbook was originally written in 1929 and revised through six editions by Dr. Frederick Christopher, Associate Professor of Surgery at the Northwestern University Medical School. The present seventh edition bears some slight resemblance to the previous editions, but it is essentially a new textbook. Dr. Ochsner and Dr. DeBakey have preserved the general intent of the original author, but the organization and illustrations are new. The text has been rewritten.
The text is divided into eight parts according to systems. After part 1 on General Considerations, there follow sections on the skin and subcutaneous (adjacent) tissue, the
