Dr. Isselbacher: We wish to present a patient with galactosemia or galactose diabetes and then supplement the presentation with a brief discussion of the current concepts of this disease as they have been formulated recently in the laboratory of H. M. Kalckar.
We have currently on our wards the oldest living patient in whom a diagnosis of galactosemia has been established. In fact, he is the same patient in whom this condition was first recognized and described in this country.1
The patient is a 24 year old Negro who seemed perfectly well at birth, at which time he weighed eight
