This book, edited by two outstanding students of the clinical aspects of pulmonary emphysema, actually consists of a series of essays pertaining to various aspects of the syndrome.
The first half of the book (which, in the reviewer's opinion, should be the second half) consists of a series of comprehensive and detailed discussions of the clinical management of pulmonary emphysema, as practiced by Dr. Barach and his group. There is no doubt that most of their beliefs are sound and based on long experience. However, one concept may need questioning. They strongly advocate using oxygen therapy for the hypoxic episodes
