Dr. Alfred Gellhorn: Today we discuss a group of diseases, the lymphomas, various aspects of which are being productively investigated in many parts of the world. During our presentation we will introduce summaries of some phases of these investigations not only because they illuminate hitherto obscure facets of the lymphomas, but also because they have relevance to other malignant neoplastic diseases and increase our understanding of biologic phenomena in normal cells as well.
To set the stage for certain issues to be highlighted, I would like to offer a kaleidoscopic review of the natural history of the malignant lymphomas. Hodgkin's
