The book opens with a chapter on the chemistry of hormones; present knowledge of chemical characteristics and structural formulae of hormones and their metabolic derivatives is presented. Single chapters are devoted to each endocrine gland; the embryology, histology, biochemistry and physiology of each hormone are discussed. Finally, there are chapters on the relationship between the central nervous system and the endocrine glands, and on steroid metabolism.
This book should be valuable to the undergraduate student and to the graduate who desires to obtain rapidly a concise knowledge of the physiology of the endocrine system. A detailed bibliography is not given,
