In this text, the author discusses acute pericarditis essentially from the viewpoint of the clinician. However, emphasis is also placed upon basic concepts and their application to diagnosis and management. Part I deals with the pericardium, the pathology and pathologic physiology of pericardial inflammation and the physical, electrical, roentgen and humoral manifestations of acute pericarditis. The individual etiologic forms of acute pericarditis are described in Part II. There is an excellent bibliography. The illustrations have been carefully selected and the material is clearly presented.
This book should prove of value to students and internists as a reference source.
