Ophthalmodynamometry is the most reliable bedside test for the presence of disease of the internal carotid artery. The film presents the anatomical and physiological principles on which the technique depends and includes a demonstration of the use of the instrument. Filmed views of the retinal circulation, obtained with a television camera, show graphically the pulsation of the vessels that can be seen ophthalmoscopically during the bedside performance of the test.
