The electrophoretic patterns of serum proteins of 20 patients with deficient synthesis of gamma globulin revealed that in 15 the serum albumin concentration was less than 3.5 g/100 ml, and in six of these it was under 2.5 g/100 ml. The hypoalbuminemia associated with hypogammaglobulinemia was investigated by using intravenously-injected albumin-radioactive iodine and polyvinylpyrrolidine (PVP)-radioactive iodine to assess albumin synthesis and enteric loss of albumin.
