A natural subdivision of patients with myeloma is attempted according to the globulin pattern as it is defined immunoelectrophoretically. The group γ1A (β2A) has been studied extensively, and some characteristic cytological features were found in collaboration with Paraskevas and Heremans. The new drug melphalan was tried on 25 patients with myeloma belonging to the different groups. No special sensitivity could be traced in any group, but the general results regarding decrease in pathological globulin and increase in albumin were often excellent.
