Physicians interested in gastroenterology have been swamped in a sea of recent literature in this field; Dr. McHardy's book affords them a splendid means of bailing out. This anthology, a concentrated source of up-to-date information on gastrointestinal disease, comprises fifty-seven papers that cover a wide range of topics, mostly clinical. New endoscopic, radiologic, and laboratory techniques of use to the practicing physician are also described. Most of the material was first presented at a postgraduate course of The American College of Physicians, preceding the American Gastroenterological Association meeting in New Orleans in 1960.
