The conference on the human adrenal held at the University of Glasgow in 1960 is the best scientific seminar in the field of endocrinology known to this reviewer. The present summary of that meeting is a model description of a model conference.
The program dealt with six main topics: the morphology of the adrenal cortex, the biochemistry of steroid hormones, the regulation of adrenocortical secretion, the metabolic effects of the steroids, diseases of the adrenal gland, and the structure and function of the fetal adrenal cortex. Notable contributions to each section were made by a large number of invited investigators
