More descriptive than the title of this book is the note on the title page, "From a Symposium on Fluid Balance, American Medical Association, 1961." A review of all body fluid disturbances and their management is not attempted and would not be possible within the 122 pages of the book. The first forty-four pages do provide a general background: "Foundation Facts for Understanding Body Fluid Disturbances," by W. D. Snively, Jr.; and "Diagnostic Images of Fluid Balance Disturbances including Acid Base Disturbances," by M. J. Sweeny. This introductory material is presented clearly and informally, supplemented with more than thirty diagrams
