Dr. Joseph J. Bunim: The concurrence of psoriasis, sarcoidosis, and gout was first reported by Kaplan and Klatskin in 1960 (1). At the National Institutes of Health, Dr. Eugene Van Scott and his associates of the National Cancer Institute have been investigating the dermatologic and metabolic aspects of psoriasis; and for the past 2 years we at the National Institute of Arthritis and Metabolic Diseases have been collaborating with Dr. Van Scott in studying arthritis associated with psoriasis. Hyperuricemia commonly occurs in psoriasis, and the arthritis may superficially resemble gout. Nevertheless, we have observed a case of unequivocal gouty arthritis
