Entering a subject of great controversy, Professor Kreyberg attempts in this monograph to classify, on the basis of histopathology, the types of tumors occurring in the lungs. He feels that a logical and fruitful classification must meet 3 prerequisites, namely: comprehensiveness—the completeness with which tumors are to be properly placed in definite categories; reproducibility—any competent pathologist could follow the classification; and biological consistency—tumors similarly classified have some important biological characteristics in common.
