Aiming to serve the clinician rather than the student, this 4-volume work edited by Dr. A. B. Baker, Professor of Neurology, University of Minnesota Medical School, with contributions by 65 authors, fulfills its purpose in many, but not all, ways.
Most of the writing is authoritative and comprehensive, but some is not informative to one conversant with the field of neurology. For instance, in an advanced text directed to clinicians, a long chapter devoted to the basic diagnostic signs and methods of interview seems superfluous. Some topics of clinical importance have been compressed far too much in comparison with others
